MS Backup runs inside Microsoft Windows like a traditional application, but for making a compleate copy of your hard-drive the best solution is to boot from a different drive. When you boot from a different drive the main drive, which holds your Operating System, doesn't have any thing running off of it; it just sits there. And doing a full bit-for-bit copy, or ghost is possible.
