E3 2006 with Dedi Hubbard

Our NY correspondent, Dedi Hubbard, reports on E3. Learn about the new games and gear announced at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in LA, CA.

Sony PS3

  • Due out for the Winter Holiday Season at $499/$599 ($499 has some crippled features)

  • HD quality graphics

  • Some motion sensing just added to their controller, "Dual Shake"

  • P3 is backwards compatible with its predecessors through software emulation

Xbox 360

  • Dead Rising, a zombie game with a sense of humor

  • New peripherals out soon at lower price points

  • Xbox Live to allow PC and 360 gamers to play together

Nintendo Wii

  • Also due out this Winter Holiday, current rumored price point $250

  • The Wii Remote (affectionately called the "Wiimote") can track virtually any movement and features a simplified interace to attract non-gamers

  • The Wiimote has several attachments to enhace/adapt to new types of gameplay, houses a speaker for sound effects and rumble and sports a long battery life

  • Wii online component will work like Nintendo's current DS setup

  • Wii virtual console will allow you to play all of Nintendo's old games (including NES, SNES, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube games), as well as Sega and Turbografx games.
