A student at work is doing an art project in which he is trying to create a thermostat (which controls other things) and he needs to make the markings for his thermostat and was having trouble drawing them in Illustrator without going insane.

He has something like this:

As you can see the lines were a little off. He asked me to come up with a way to do this with ease in Illustrator. So I whipped up this screen cast as a response. I thought it might help others make this sort of thing, as long as Google can help people find it.

I guess you could call this creating objects around a path, or rotating line segments. In any case, here is my screen cast.
